The older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve transitioned into buying staples that can be worn over and over again, and still look great. I used to not understand people’s love for basics and neutrals, but now it makes my heart swoon.
When you buy something new, that’s really loud, people may absolutely LOVE it, but they will also remember that you wore it. But when you have tan, black, white, cream, denim, chambray, and pops of your favorite colors, you can mix them endless ways. I’m not necessarily advocating a capsule wardrobe, because I love the inspiration I get when I get a new piece of clothing, but high quality staples are the balance to fast fashion.
Invest in High Quality Basics
Spanx faux leather leggings are definitely one of those pieces. At $98, they are an investment piece, especially if you’re a budget shopper like me. But I would say they are totally worth it. You can of course, always buy the Target version of Spanx, which I’ve heard are quite similar, or the American Eagle version, but I can’t speak to the quality of either. I just know I’ve been wearing my Spanx faux leather leggings for two years and they are still going strong.
This past week, I styled my Spanx faux leather leggings three ways, dressing them up, and also styling them super casual, and can’t wait to show you the result.
In this super casual look, I paired my leggings with Vans and a denim jacket, this look was extremely comfortable, but still on trend and fun.
This look is great because layers look super pulled together, perfect for work or play. Still comfortable in flats, but could be dressed up even more with heels, booties or extra jewelry.
Paired with a graphic pumpkin tee and booties, this would also be super cute with a band tee, which is super on trend.
