My girl friends and I got to get all dolled up for a Great Gatsby themed fundraiser and man alive, do you realize how boring our main stream fashion is these days, when we compare it to trends of old.
I mean seriously, the best we bring to the table is scrunchies, masks, and ripped jeans these days. Don’t get me wrong, I love the comfort of fast fashion, and I’m totally here for cotton dresses with pockets, leggings and uggs as footwear that can be worn outside the house. But seriously, the flappers are just so fun. With their feathers and boas, and hair clips, and tassels and fishnet panty house, and long gloves, they knew how to take things to the next level.
It’s interesting though, because I don’t think we’ll ever get back to a Gatsby era of attire. Back then life was pretty streamlined for what was acceptable. Now, we live in a time, where everyone can “be themselves”, which I’m sure has good and bad impacts on societal standards. The good, you get to be your self. The bad, sometimes people go to the store in their pajamas, or worse. 🙈🙈🙈
If you could live in any era of fashion or lifestyle, what would you choose? Tell me in the comments below.
