I have always been a lover of year around holiday baking and food prep. In my heart, I am the hospitality queen. In reality, I’m a borderline introvert. 😬 But I wish I was hosting giant parties for every single holiday. That’s who I want to be.
I mean peep these flag cupcakes circa 2010 , I have always loved to make cute and crafty holiday desserts and meals, because they are fun, and they make people happy. I feel like that has become more popular, in recent (likely because of social media), but when getting monthly food magazine subscriptions was still cool, I was leading the charge.
I’ve recently shared several easy patriotic food ideas on Instagram, and I wanted to put them all in one blog post, in case you were looking for some options for an upcoming backyard bbq, or even just as a labor of love for your family. I’m of the belief that you can do cute things, even when no-one will see it.
A Few Easy Patriotic Food Ideas
- Patriotic Fruit Tray or (Charcuterie Board)
I actually outlined a blog post for this one, but it’s so easy to add your own spin. Sub, watermelon, raspberries, mozzarella and tomatoes, whatever you please. In the age of charcuterie boards, you can literally put almost anything together, and if it’s aesthetically pleasing, it will work.
2. Red, White and Blue Milkshake
This pays homage to those totally over the top milkshake bars, where they add frosting, sprinkles, gobs of toppings, whipped cream, cherries and more. I didn’t blog about this one, though maybe I should have, but I shared all the details on Pinterest, and you can check it out right here! This is such an easy patriotic food idea, because really all you need are red, white and blue sprinkles to pull it together. This is also a fun one to serve for your family, because it has a cozy vibe. This would also be really cute with a bomb pop served on top, for added wow. This one is totally not healthy, but if you splurge for a holiday, then this might be the right splurge. You could always make a blueberry smoothie for the bottom layer, and then just put goodies on top.
3. Red, White and Blue Snack Board
Isn’t this so stinking cute? Cut watermelons and cheese into the shapes of stars, and add other red, white and blue treats for a super easy patriotic food idea. The star veggie chips are a seasonal fav, found at Target. You can see the video of this snack board right here.
I also did a super cute blog post on root beer float popsicles, that I decorated with red, white and blue sprinkles too. They aren’t inherently an easy patriotic food idea. But if you add red, white and blue sprinkles to anything; it can quickly become patriotic.
I hope you enjoyed these. Let me know if you make one of them in the comments below. Happy 4th of July!
